Angelina Jolie to Star in Anxious People Movie Adaptation, Director Set

Angelina Jolie, a renowned Academy Award-winning actress, has been confirmed to take on the lead role in the forthcoming film version of Anxious People, which is adapted from the widely popular novel.

Who is directing Anxious People?

In a new movie titled “Anxious People,” director Marc Forster will lead the production, known for his recent work on “A Man Called Otto” starring Tom Hanks in 2022 and the hit film “World War Z.” This upcoming film is an adaptation of the top-selling New York Times novel by Fredrik Backman. The plot revolves around a high-profile investment banker (played by Jolie) who finds herself trapped at a home’s open house when it gets robbed, with the entire household taken hostage by the robber.

In addition to Forster, the book “Anxious People” is being penned by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter David Magee, who was also involved in writing “A Man Called Otto,” a project that Forster had previously worked on. As of now, no further casting details besides Angelina Jolie have been disclosed, and no release dates have been provided either.

At the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, distribution rights for the movie “Anxious People” are expected to be discussed by Black Bear, a production company. This film is being produced by Hope Studios under the guidance of Fredrik Wikström Nicastro and Renée Wolfe, who have previously worked on films like “A Man Called Otto” and “Christopher Robin”. In addition to their roles as producers, Forster, Magee, and Neda Backman are serving as executive producers for this project.

On the eve of Christmas Eve, investment banker Zara (Jolie) unwillingly interacts with a cluster of unfamiliar faces at an open house. When a hesitant bank robber mistakenly seizes the group as hostages, pandemonium and excessive sharing erupt, hidden truths surface, and nothing adheres to the original plan. A heartwarming, delightful movie about a crime that didn’t happen, a vanishing would-be bank robber, and eight overly apprehensive individuals who discover they share more similarities than they thought possible.
