Actors Emma Roberts (from Holidate), Luke Wilson (known for Legally Blonde), and Heather Graham (renowned from The Hangover series) have been chosen to headline the upcoming romantic comedy titled Disposing of Matthew. It’s anticipated that filming will commence in October this year in Toronto, Canada.
The film is adapted from Jane Fallon’s popular novel with the same title. Hernán Jiménez, a renowned Costa Rican director (known for “Love Hard” and “A Million Miles Away”), will both write and direct this project. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton from Alloy Entertainment will be producing the movie, while Architect will take care of its global distribution.
Jiménez declared that he read Jane’s novel in one go because it was so full of life and vigor, and Helen, the character, was perfectly portrayed by Jane. He believes audiences will adore Emma as she plays this role, finding themselves captivated by her escalating antics to escape Matthew.
What is Getting Rid of Matthew about?
In the movie, a young woman named Helen (Roberts) pursues her desires, leading her to New York and her dream job. However, her heart also leads her to Matthew (Luke Wilson), her intelligent, charming, and overly confident boss who’s married to Sophie (Graham). As their secret affair unfolds, Matthew eventually leaves Sophie, leaving Helen with a grown man in crisis – a self-centered individual dealing with arrested development, going through a midlife crisis, and possessing numerous bad habits. Despite her initial plans to confront him, when Matthew shows up at her doorstep with all his belongings, she finds herself living with a troubled adult who’s spiraling out of control.
