Overwatch 2 Stadium patch notes for May 1 hotfix

Blizzard has made public the initial set of patch notes for Overwatch 2’s Stadium update, which is part of their strategy to release weekly hotfixes during the first half of a new season. These May 1 patch notes are relatively concise, but they detail some significant adjustments to hero abilities that Blizzard thinks were excessively strong. Additionally, they enhance the Stadium Coin earning capacity for several high-performing characters who, despite their prowess, often earned less than their peers.

We’ve rounded up all the changes in the first Overwatch 2 Stadium patch notes below.

Overwatch 2 Stadium patch notes for May 1: All balance updates, buffs, and nerfs

10 iconic characters have seen shifts in their abilities or equipment in this preliminary update, but remember, it’s not a full seasonal patch; the changes aren’t intended to drastically alter gameplay. Some items have lost a bit of their oomph, others have had tweaks to their attributes, and several powers – notably those of Lucio – have been re-tuned for balance. I, as a fan, am excited to see these adjustments and adapt my strategies accordingly!

D.Va nerfs

D.Va’s powers are the same, but two of her most overtuned items are rather less busted not.

Nano Cola Nitrous item

  • Health reduced to 25 from 50
  • Max life increase reduced to five percent from 25 percent
  • Nano Boost duration reduced to four seconds from eight seconds

Busan Blaster item

  • No longer grants ultimate charge

Orisa nerfs

In a statement, Blizzard expressed their belief that Orisa was nearly indestructible, so they adjusted certain self-reliant abilities she possessed. However, our current Orisa setup remains unchanged.

Restortify power

  • Heals five percent of max life each second instead of 10 percent

Solar Regenergy item

  • Restores three percent armor instead of five percent

Reinhardt nerfs

As a gamer, I’ve been raking in the Stadium Cash like crazy, thanks to my monstrous weapon that’s been helping me rack up hits and eliminations left and right. But Blizzard just took a chunk out of my earnings, reducing the amount I get for damage and healing by 13.64 percent.

Zarya nerf and buff

Two key abilities of Zarya are tweaked slightly to ensure she plays more evenly in various game situations.

Lifelift power

  • Particle Barrier health scaling reduced to 50 percent of your max life instead of 100 percent

Here to Spot You power

  • Increased healing to 20 percent of max life, up from 15 percent

Mei nerf and buffs

Mei’s overall structure stays the same, but Blizzard has decreased the probability that her Endothermic Blaster’s Coulder ability will push opponents away. However, when it does knock them back, the distance will be greater.

Coulder power

  • Reduced knockback frequency rate by 60 percent
  • Increased how far enemies are knocked back
  • Increased damage dealt per knockback to 20, up from 10

Reaper nerf

Just as Reinhardt, Reaper used to make an excessive amount of money, a fact not difficult to understand considering the immense damage he inflicts. However, his income from both damage and healing has been reduced by 10%.

Soldier 76 nerf and buff

In response to an over-reliance on Rocket Visor builds among players, Blizzard has decided to tweak some aspects of the Soldier’s abilities to ensure a more balanced gameplay experience. This adjustment includes a decrease in the amount of money the Soldier will earn by 12.5% for both damage and healing inflicted.

Rocket Visor power

  • Duration reduced to 0.5 seconds from 0.75

Biotic Bullseye power

  • Ammo restoration per critical hit increased to 10 percent from five percent

Kiriko nerf

In a twist of events, it turns out Kiriko has amassed quite a bit of wealth as well, given her abilities to jump high, launch explosive kunai, and heal more effectively. Consequently, she will receive 16.67% less remuneration for healing and damage inflicted.

Juno nerfs and buffs

In simpler terms, the powerful Pulsar Torpedoes that Juno carries were functioning excessively effectively. To balance things out, Blizzard chose to slightly diminish their potency by extending their cool-down period and reducing their ability strength for one of her equipment pieces. Moreover, Juno will now receive a 33.33% increase in Stadium Cash when she inflicts damage or heals others.

Cosmic Coolant power

  • Cooldown per target reduced to 0.5 seconds from one second

PulStar Destroyers item

  • Removed 15 percent ability power buff
  • Added 10 percent ability lifesteal

Solar Shielding item

  • Ability power reduced to 15 percent from 25 percent

Lucio nerfs and buffs

It seems that Lucio’s healing abilities were excessively strong, according to Blizzard, which might explain why he had such a high victory rate during Stadium’s initial week. Currently, his healing efficiency is slightly reduced, but he will now receive 10% more money for both healing and causing damage.

Crowd Pleaser power

  • Healing reduced to 150 percent of Crossfade, down from 200 percent

Megaphone power

  • Amp It Up duration reduced to 15 percent, down from 20 percent

Signature Shift power

  • Increased projectile size to 80 percent, up from 20 percent

B-Side Bop item

  • Health increased to 50, up from 25
