Set in the 1990s, this film revolves around the life of Paarivel Kannan, who goes by the nickname Paari. After a devastating family incident, he developed an unusual trait – he seldom smiles. Despite being raised by a kind woman, her husband consistently overlooked him as their son.

Once a time came when my father was targeted for pursuit, I, Paari, intervened, becoming a trusted associate of the criminal underworld. Fast-forwarding through years, I, Paarivel, chose to abandon my violent lifestyle upon finding myself smitten with Rukmini, portrayed by Pooja Hegde.

On their wedding day, an argument between Paari and his adoptive father, Thilagan, escalated into a physical fight which ended tragically. As a result, Paari was imprisoned, causing his wife Rukmini to leave him.

Five years pass, and Paari eventually locates Rukmini on a secluded island. To convince his beloved of his transformation, he decides to conceal himself as a jovial therapist during his visit.

Spoiler Alert: Here’s how Suriya’s movie ended

Following his successful infiltration and transformation into a new identity on the island, Paari finds himself thrust into a conflict between criminal factions and enslaved people. It isn’t long before he discovers that he himself is the son of an island slave couple, with the name Jada Muni.

According to the prophecy, the man is believed to be “The Chosen One” who will overthrow the oppressive rule on the island and instigate change. After an enormous conflict, Paari’s foster father ventures to the island in search of a secretively hidden “Golden Fish,” which was in Paari’s possession.

Ultimately, an enormous force of men arrives intent on capturing Paari, his kin, and the townsfolk. However, they discover that these people are in possession of something unusual – Gold Fish. It later transpires that this ‘Gold Fish’ was a code name for rocket launchers, which were intended to be clandestinely transported to Africa.

Due to his concern about an imminent explosion, Thilagan gives himself up. The scene then shifts to Paari’s wedding the following day, marking the end of the film. Intriguingly, it is finally disclosed that most of the Gold Fishes were flawed, with only one proving to be useful.
