Based on recent findings, it’s possible that the budget for “Sunrise in the Reaping,” a part of The Hunger Games series, could be the most substantial investment the franchise has made to date.
What is The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping budget said to be?
As per a recent article by Deadline, it’s anticipated that the budget for Sunrise on the Reaping will exceed $150 million. The movie could potentially cost anywhere between $170 million and $200 million, according to the report. Despite the seemingly large figure, it’s important to note that the Hunger Games franchise has previously handled such substantial budgets.
In contrast, the most recent installment in the series, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,” had a production budget of approximately $100 million. On the other hand, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” from 2015 is said to have cost around $160 million for its production.
If Deadline’s figures are correct, then Sunrise at the Reaping will become the most costly film in the Hunger Games series. Moreover, it is expected to rank among the priciest films to hit the screens for a while.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ll be diving into the world of Sunrise on the Reaping, where I’ll embody a younger version of the legendary Haymitch Abernathy, portrayed by Joseph Zada. Alongside me, Jesse Plemons steps into the shoes of a younger Plutarch Heavensbee. And let’s not forget Whitney Peak, who brings Lenore Dove Baird, my romantic interest in this thrilling tale, to life.
On November 20, 2026, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping” will hit movie theaters across the United States, distributed by Lionsgate.
The upcoming Hunger Games prequel film is being led by director Francis Lawrence, who’s previously worked on several installments in the series. Producers for this movie are Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, with Cameron MacConomy taking on an executive producer role.
Billy Ray is currently drafting the screenplay for Sunrise on the Reaping. Previously, he contributed to the script of the initial Hunger Games film, which debuted in 2012, and was recognized with an Academy Award nomination for his work on 2013’s Captain Phillips.
Besides his roles, he has also contributed to the screenplays for films like Volcano (1997), Shattered Glass, which he also directed (2003), Suspect Zero (2004), State of Play (2009), Overlord (2018), Gemini Man, Terminator: Dark Fate, Richard Jewell, and several others.
