Priscilla Pointer passes away at 100, claims report
Priscilla Pointer, actress and mother of Amy Irving, has died at the age of 100.
As a gamer speaking directly, I’m saddened to share that on this very day, I learned of the passing of a remarkable figure from the world of entertainment. My beloved mother, David Irving – a writer-director known for her incredible works – left us at an assisted living facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on Monday. This news deeply impacts me, and I’m grateful to have had her as my guiding light throughout my life.
In various films with Irving, such as “Carrie” (1976), “The Competition” (1980), “Micki + Maude” (1984), “Rumpelstiltskin” (1987), and “Carried Away” (1996), she made appearances. Additionally, during the sixth season of Dallas, she played Rebecca Barnes Wentworth, the mother of Victoria Principal’s character.
Her TV roles encompass appearances on shows such as L.A. Law, The Rockford Files, Police Woman, Judging Amy, St. Elsewhere, McCloud, and ER. In movies, she took on the role of the lead characters’ mother in Blue Velvet (1986), Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), The Falcon and the Snowman (1985), and Nickelodeon (1976).
To start off, Pointer embarked on her acting journey through stage performances. In 1952, she teamed up with her spouse Jules Irving, Herbert Blau, and Beatrice Manley to establish the San Francisco Actor’s Workshop. Later on, she graced stages at the Repertory Theater of Lincoln Center and made her Broadway debut in Danton’s Death during 1965.
18th May, 1924 saw the birth of Pointer in New York City, where her parents, artists Augusta and Kenneth Pointer, resided. She entered matrimony with Jules Irving, who departed this life in 1979, and subsequently tied the knot with actor-producer Robert Symonds, who left us in 2007.
Amy Irving shared on Instagram that her mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 100, possibly to join her two cherished spouses and numerous beloved dogs. She leaves behind daughters Amy and Katie Irving, son David Irving, as well as eight grandchildren.
