Ben Affleck Wishes He Was in The Odyssey, Names Best Directors Ever

Ben Affleck expressed a wish to be part of director Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming movie, “The Odyssey,” during a recent interview, and he also shared some of the top directors who have inspired him throughout his career.

Who did Ben Affleck say were his favorite directors?

In the latest episode of Complex’s “GOAT Talk” series, Affleck and his co-star from The Accountant 2, Jon Bernthal, discussed their opinions on the best things ever across multiple categories. One of the questions they answered was about the movie they weren’t part of but believe they should have been in it.

Though Affleck and Bernthal didn’t mention a specific film, Affleck expressed his wish to have been part of movies he wasn’t cast in. While Bernthal mentioned Affleck’s movie “The Town”, Affleck wished he could have acted in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, which features both Bernthal and Affleck’s friend Matt Damon.

Affleck expressed, “Many films I watch make me think, ‘What a shame I’m not part of this film.’ Particularly the ones directed by Christopher Nolan – those are the ones where I find myself yearning, ‘Oh, how wonderful it would be to star in that movie.’

In the video, later on, they inquire about who each person considers their most exceptional director ever. Affleck reiterated that it’s challenging to single out one as there are too many worthy contenders. Nonetheless, he mentioned a few of his favorites, such as Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Steven Spielberg, and more.

Affleck remarked that it’s not about identifying someone as the ‘Greatest of All Time’ (GOAT). Instead, he questioned what the person is passionate about, their unique style, and their methodology. He explained that it’s not just about being the best quarterback in football or winning the game; it’s a more complex issue.
