Gavin O’Connor has shared an update about a potential The Accountant 3.
Back in 2016, I found myself immersed in “The Accountant” at my local US cinema. This flick, helmed by director O’Connor, featured Ben Affleck as the brilliant yet troubled character, Christian Wolff. His estranged brother Braxton, played by Jon Bernthal, added an extra layer of tension to the story. Fast forward to this past weekend, and a sequel, “The Accountant 2”, graced the silver screen, raking in approximately $24.5 million at the domestic box office.
What did Gavin O’Connor say about The Accountant 3?
Although The Accountant 3 hasn’t been formally announced yet, O’Connor has expressed multiple times his desire to create a three-part series.
In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, O’Connor mentioned that discussions are ongoing with Amazon MGM Studios regarding the continuation of the franchise. Unlike the nine-year gap between The Accountant and its sequel, this time there won’t be such a long wait.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excitedly hinting at a potential love story arc for Affleck’s character in the upcoming third Accountant film, keeping my fingers crossed for some heart-pounding romance!
Originally, we planned for it to be a three-part series, and that’s what we’re discussing now,” O’Connor explained. “Ben [Affleck] and I, along with our producer Lynette [Howell Taylor] and writer Bill [Dubuque], are talking with Amazon about continuing the story. We don’t want another nine years to pass before we make the third installment. The character of Christian is set up to find love, so I aim to provide him with that by the end of the final film.
It seems that further updates regarding The Accountant 3 might take some time, but you can catch up with the original film now as it’s streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Max. As of now, there’s no confirmed release date for The Accountant 2.
In the sequel to “The Accountant”, Cynthia Addai-Robinson portrays Marybeth Medina, Daniella Pineda takes on the role of Anais, J.K. Simmons stars as Raymond King, and Allison Robertson is cast as Justine.
