For PlayStation Plus subscribers, April was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. On one hand, having Blue Prince as a day-one release was truly exciting. However, the recent price hikes have left many fans feeling disgruntled. In light of these increases, there’s a strong hope that Sony has an impressive lineup in store for May. Sony is about to unveil their plans soon, and it’s rumored that a potentially massive PS Plus game for May 2025 might have leaked before the official announcement.
PS Plus May 2025 free game possibly leaked
In simple terms, Sony has announced through its PlayStation Blog that the free games for PS Plus members in May 2025 will be available starting from May 6th. The upcoming Essential lineup for the following month is expected to be unveiled on April 30th.
Before we find out what the three freebies next month will be, there’s a chance one of them might have been accidentally revealed early. According to IGN, a Reddit user named Budget-Neat4570 spotted that Until Dawn Remake appeared on the PS Plus Monthly Games list prematurely.

1) The remake of Until Dawn was released towards the end of 2024, making it a fairly new addition to potential giveaways if it’s among the essential choices. Given that the Until Dawn movie premiered in theaters on April 25th, it would also be fitting as a giveaway prize.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll see the Until Dawn Remake next month. If it were included in the Essential games lineup, it would benefit new subscribers who haven’t experienced Until Dawn yet, but long-time owners of the original might feel let down since the remake, while boasting better graphics, is generally considered inferior to the original version.
Apart from its link to the recent film release, another potential reason for giving away Until Dawn Remake next month might be due to its underperformance at launch. Many people felt the remake was unnecessary in the first place, and it apparently failed even more than Concord did initially.
Keep in mind that the remake of Until Dawn hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ll find out about the three essential games coming to PS Plus in May 2025 on April 30th.
