Insta360 Launches X5, Updating its Flagship 360º Action Camera Model

Insta360 introduces an upgrade to its top-tier 360-degree action camera, now known as the Insta360 X5. This new model boasts improvements across several key features that were present in the previous generation of their flagship device.

The latest X5 model comes equipped with Insta360’s largest sensor in a handheld 360-degree consumer camera to date, a 1/1.28-inch sensor that promises a significant improvement in image quality at all resolutions, including 8K video at 30fps. The X5 boasts a swift Triple AI Chip system, augmented by AI for additional improvements such as PureVideo, a brand new mode designed for low-light capture. These features make the new camera exceptionally adaptable in various lighting conditions.

As an enthusiast, I’d say I’m thrilled about the latest Insta360 camera, boasting it as the most rugged 360-degree camera yet. The lenses are meticulously crafted from a brand-new type of “extraordinarily durable glass”, ensuring my adventures and captures remain unscathed!

This new lens system, according to the brand, establishes an unprecedented benchmark among action cameras, with the X5 offering a unique and replaceable lens setup that differentiates it from other 360-degree cameras presently on the market.

The enhanced X5 model now offers features such as a wind shield integrated for clearer sound during adverse weather, an extended battery life that lasts up to 3 hours, and advancements in the camera’s water resistance, capable of withstanding depths of up to 49 feet.

Additionally, some software updates have occurred, such as introducing the InstaFrame Mode which concurrently records a pre-framed, instantly shareable flat video alongside a 360° video for further refinement. Furthermore, the Insta360 companion app has undergone redesign, now offering more user-friendly editing tools and enabling the X5 to connect with the company’s cloud service.

JK Liu, the founder of Insta360, explains that the enhancements in their latest X5 model are designed to address the genuine issues faced by content creators. He goes on to say, “We’ve constructed our ideal camera – robust for outdoor adventures, versatile enough to generate top-notch footage, and intelligent enough to capture breathtaking moments with ease. To mark its debut, the brand organized a temporary shop at Grand Central Terminal in New York City, attracting hundreds of enthusiasts who were eager to purchase the latest camera model as soon as it hit the market.
