At the Retro pre-launch gathering, Vijay Deverakonda openly expressed his deep respect for Suriya. He confided that he became a fan of Suriya after watching the blockbuster film Ghajini during his school days. Additionally, the actor from Liger also admitted that this movie left a lasting impact on him.

Vijay revealed how the song “Suriya Sannaf Krishnan” stayed with him after watching it in theaters.

Once upon a time, as an aspiring but struggling actor, Vijay harbored a dream of meeting Suriya and learning from him. He never imagined their paths would cross. When he found himself at the Retro event alongside Suriya, it felt like a unique and memorable experience for him. Looking back on his journey, the Kushi actor expressed that this encounter with Suriya would be something he’d “keep close to his heart,” cherishing it as a precious memory.

Furthermore, Vijay commended Suriya’s charitable work through the Agaram Foundation, expressing his eagerness to assist students as well. He hinted at unveiling his plans for action in the near future.

Regarding the movie at hand, Retro narrates the tale of Parivel Kannan, a man relentlessly seeking his lost beloved, Rukmini. The narrative delves into the hurdles he encounters and the ensuing emotional odyssey he embarks upon.

Under the guidance of director Karthik Subbaraj, this movie was originally known as Suriya 44. The cast includes Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Sujith Shankar, Prakash Raj, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Jayaram, and Singampuli in prominent roles.
