This week, “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” is being re-released in cinemas as a tribute to its 20th anniversary, and initial box office predictions indicate it’s beating out several fresh films.
What are the first Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 20th Anniversary box office impressions?
As per recent forecasts (from Deadline), this week’s box office earnings for the rerelease of Revenge of the Sith might serve as a bit of an unexpected factor. The movie has already earned $3.4 million from its previews this week, and considering the strong presales, it could potentially generate revenues up to $20 million or more.
If the film manages to earn such a high amount, it could possibly delay the release of The Accountant 2 and potentially even outrank Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal’s movie as the second highest-grossing film of the week. According to Deadline’s report, previous Star Wars re-releases have generally had modest box office earnings, with The Phantom Menace earning approximately $8.7 million last year.
To honor its 20th anniversary, “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” is set to return to cinemas across the U.S. and selected international locations for a single week, beginning on April 25th. Notably, this special screening will also mark the film’s debut in 4DX format.

Set in a time long after the commencement of the Clone Wars, the movie follows the valiant Jedi Knights commanding an enormous clone army in a galaxy-wide struggle against the Separatists. However, when the malevolent Sith reveal an ancient scheme to dominate the galaxy, the Republic disintegrates, giving birth to the tyrannical Galactic Empire. Anakin Skywalker, once a Jedi Hero, succumbs to the dark side of the Force and transforms into the Emperor’s new apprentice – Darth Vader. The Jedi Order is severely diminished, with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Master Yoda forced into concealment.
George Lucas was responsible for both writing and directing the movie “Revenge of the Sith.” The impressive cast included Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Frank Oz as Yoda, Jimmy Smits, Peter Mayhew, Ahmed Best, Oliver Ford Davies, Temuera Morrison, Anthony Daniels, Silas Carson, Kenny Baker, Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu, and Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. This film premiered in 2005 and has since received a Certified Fresh rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it the title of the highest-rated installment of the prequel trilogy.
