What’s the Possibility of Gunther Getting Fired From WWE Raw?

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been hearing some buzz in the gaming community that Gunther, the renowned World Heavyweight Champion, might be getting let go from WWE Raw. It’s got everyone talking about whether there’s any truth to these rumors. The chatter seems to have started after Michael Cole called for Gunther’s release following The Ring General’s assault on Cole and his partner, Pat McAfee, during this week’s episode of Raw.

Could Gunther get fired from WWE Raw and move to SmackDown?

As I write this, there’s no formal announcement yet from WWE or Gunther about his shift from Monday Night Raw to Friday Night SmackDown. But considering he dropped the belt to Jey Uso during WrestleMania 41, it’s a possibility. This loss signaled the end of his 259-day title reign. If he does make the switch, it opens up new opportunities for rivalries and chasing fresh championships on SmackDown.

There’s a strong chance that the incidents from Monday Night Raw a few days ago could pave the way for Gunther (real name Walter Hahn) being moved. Following his defeat at WrestleMania 41, Gunther seems to still be simmering with anger, and he attacked Cole. In response, McAfee, who used to play as an NFL punter, stepped in to protect his partner.

WWE authorities tried to intervene, but Gunther shoved past them and applied a chokehold on McAfee. McAfee’s ESPN team members made an attempt to jump over the barrier in an effort to save him, but they were stopped by security guards from reaching him.

In time, Gunther chose to depart under his own accord, leaving the other individual unconscious. Subsequently, Cole approached WWE Raw’s General Manager, Adam Pearce, requesting that Gunther be dismissed from his position.

Gunther, aged 37, hails from Vienna, Austria. He’s had wrestling experience with promotions like Pro Wrestling ZERO1-MAX, Westside Xtreme Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling in the past. In 2019, he signed with WWE’s NXT brand and made his SmackDown debut in 2022. He moved to Raw during the 2023 WWE Draft and clinched the World Heavyweight Championship at the 2024 SummerSlam event.
