Nintendo is no longer guaranteeing June 5 delivery on new Switch 2 pre-orders

This week, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have become available, and there’s been such a tremendous response that Nintendo can no longer assure delivery by June 5 for new orders placed through their official store. Additionally, players who receive emails to order the Switch 2 might find that these emails arrive after the device’s release date.

This week, Nintendo updated the “How to Buy” page for the Nintendo Switch 2, as noted by Wario64. Under a fresh heading called “Information on Release Day Delivery,” Nintendo revealed the following details:

As an eager enthusiast, I’m sharing some updates about my Nintendo Store (US) purchases! Regarding delivery dates for items scheduled to arrive by June 5, please note that these aren’t set in stone and there might be delays. Furthermore, you may receive your invite email after the launch of the Switch 2, so stay tuned and keep an eye on your inbox!

It appears that if players are counting on Nintendo to fulfill pre-orders, they might find themselves waiting past the launch date on June 5 to secure one. This comes after Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa disclosed that an astounding 2.2 million people in Japan alone have signed up to purchase the new console. To enhance their chances of obtaining a Switch 2 on launch day, Nintendo advises players to investigate its retail partners like GameStop and Best Buy for additional stock.

Given the immense interest in the Nintendo Switch 2 as soon as it was announced, securing the console could become increasingly challenging in the near future. Keep an eye on our pre-order guide for updates regarding where and when you can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2.
