The anticipated launch of Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan is currently posing challenges for Nintendo due to overwhelming demand that surpasses their predictions. To make the device more budget-friendly in this region, they’ve developed a specific model, which has already garnered millions of pre-orders even before its release.

Nintendo Switch 2 fans won’t get the console

In a social media update, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa shared that approximately 2.2 million enthusiasts had registered for a pre-order opportunity through the My Nintendo Store lottery. Sadly, the number of people who want to purchase a console is significantly more than the number of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles that can be produced and distributed.

In Japan, Nintendo has issued a caution that many customers might not get their hands on the console when it initially launches. Yet, those who registered for the first draw are immediately eligible for a second chance to purchase the console once a subsequent lottery is organized.

In light of the high user interest, Furukawa clarified they are boosting their console production even further to supply more units to this area.
