Summary
- TES 4: Oblivion Remastered is reportedly coming to the Switch 2.
- The timing of its alleged release is still unclear.
- The original Switch received an Elder Scrolls game—Skyrim—eight months following its release.
According to reports from a trusted Microsoft source, it’s being speculated that “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered” might be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, the exact timing for this potential Switch 2 launch remains undetermined.
In recent times, the remastered edition of TES 4: Oblivion was a secret that wasn’t much of a secret anymore, as it had been leaked multiple times prior to its formal unveiling. The updated version of this classic open-world RPG was stealthily released for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 22nd.
A new version of the game is being developed, as reported by Extas1s. In his latest YouTube update, he hinted that the Nintendo Switch’s successor may eventually be added to the list of platforms capable of running TES 4: Oblivion Remastered. Around the 17th minute of his April 22 video, Extas1s mentioned that work has already begun on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the Oblivion remake.
TES 4: Oblivion Remastered Switch 2 Port Would Establish a New Bethesda Trend
Eight months after Nintendo introduced the original Switch, Bethesda had already unveiled an Elder Scrolls game for it, introducing the portable version of Skyrim in November 2017. If there is indeed a Switch 2 version of Oblivion Remastered in development, it might appear around the same timeframe from its intended platform’s launch. This situation would also set a pattern, designating the second consecutive generation where Bethesda backs a new Nintendo console within its inaugural year.
Work is already underway on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the Oblivion remake.
Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be a Bona Fide RPG Machine
Regardless of whether Oblivion Remastered is released or not, it’s clear that the successor to the Nintendo Switch should not fall short in terms of Role-Playing Games (RPGs). The initial lineup for the launch of the new console includes several RPG titles such as Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Deltarune, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, and Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. In addition, Wild Hearts S, Ys X: Proud Nordics, and Star Wars Outlaws are expected to arrive on Nintendo’s next console shortly after its release. Furthermore, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and Pokemon Legends: Z-A are also planned for the Switch 2. There are many more RPGs rumored to be in development for the new console, including Atlus’s Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
On June 5th, the release of the Switch 2 is scheduled. Pre-orders for this console have been accessible in numerous regions since April 9th. Starting tomorrow, April 24th, U.S. pre-orders will become available. The retail price for this console will be $449.99, which is a 50% increase compared to its previous model. Excluding backward-compatible games, the Switch 2 launch lineup will offer at least 23 titles such as Mario Kart World, Fast Fusion, Street Fighter 6, and Civilization 7.
