Peddi: Ram Charan starrer to blend real and fictional village tales, reveals director Buchi Babu Sana

The movie titled “Peddi,” featuring Ram Charan as the main character, is being actively produced at the moment, with plans for its debut on March 27, 2026. In an interview with Filmfare, director Buchi Babu Sana disclosed that the film combines true and imaginative stories from a rural village setting.

He said that the movie blends true and made-up stories from a village, as he’s passionate about sharing narratives deeply connected to their roots, believing this is where audiences find the most relatable emotions and events.

During the same conversation, director Buchi Babu Sana disclosed that he proposed the story of Peddi to filmmaker Sukumar while the COVID-19 pandemic was ongoing. Later, Sukumar presented this idea to Ram Charan who endorsed the project following their initial encounter, offering just a few minor adjustments.

In March 2025, Peddi received an official designation, which fell on the occasion of the Ram Navami festival. Simultaneously, the creators unveiled the initial sneak peek of the movie, featuring Ram Charan sporting a captivating new appearance with rugged qualities.

The sneak peek revealed that the upcoming movie is a sports drama, with scenes taking place in a rural setting. In one scene, Ram Charan was spotted participating in an informal game of cricket, suggesting the main focus of the film and offering a glimpse into what viewers can anticipate regarding his next character portrayal.

See the glimpse:

In the main part, Peddi showcases Ram Charan, alongside a talented group of actors such as Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and others. The music is brilliantly created by AR Rahman, with R. Rathnavelu handling the stunning cinematography and Navin Nooli taking care of the editing process.

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming masterpiece is a collaborative effort from Mythri Movie Makers, Vriddhi Cinemas, and Sukumar Writings. For me, this isn’t just another film; it’s the highly anticipated sequel to Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu cinematic journey, following her remarkable debut in Devara: Part 1 alongside Jr NTR.

Previously, Ram Charan appeared as the main character in the movie “Game Changer,” a political-action thriller helmed by Shankar. Kiara Advani joined him in this role. Unfortunately, the film didn’t fare well at the ticket counters and garnered mixed to unfavorable responses from critics.

Following Peddi, it’s Ram Charan who’ll take the lead role in an upcoming movie, currently known as RC17. This project will be helmed by director Sukumar.
