Bet Trailer Previews Netflix’s Live-Action Show Based on Kakegurui Manga

Netflix has unveiled the formal trailer for its upcoming live-action series, which is inspired by the well-known coming-of-age thriller manga “Kakegurui,” written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura. This ten-episode adaptation will premiere on May 15, 2025.

The story unfolds at an exclusive boarding school for the world’s elite, where hidden gambling shapes the school’s power structure. When a new student, Yumeko, who possesses exceptional gambling skills, enters, she draws the attention of the Student Council’s influential members. However, her covert mission for vengeance could potentially overturn the entire balance of the school.

Who is in the Bet trailer?

The video presents the primary actors of the show, with Miku Martineau (Kate from Star Trek: Section 31) headlining as Yumeko, a compulsive gambler. Originally, Saori Hayami provided the voice for this character in the original anime series. Alongside Martineau, you’ll find Ayo Solanke (Clown in a Cornfield), Eve Edwards (The Bad Orphan, The Good Doctor), Clara Alexandrova (Alert: Missing Persons Unit, Danger In The Dorm), Hunter Cardinal (Scout), Anwen O’Driscoll (You Can Live Forever, The Bearded Girl), Aviva Mongillo (Workin’ Moms, Don’t Talk to Irene), and Ryan Sutherland (Nick Shorts) in the cast.

The show, titled “Bet,” is developed by Simon Barry, who takes on the roles of creator, director, and executive producer. Alongside him in these roles are Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell. Previously, Kakegurui was transformed into an anime series in 2017, spanning just two seasons. In the year 2019, GAGA Pictures brought the manga to life as a live-action movie, with Minami Hamabe from “Godzilla Minus One” starring as the main character.
