Kendrick Lamar Is Chanel’s Newest Brand Ambassador

I’m thrilled to share that I, as a devoted fan, have learned Kendrick Lamar has been chosen as the newest brand ambassador for Chanel! This groundbreaking American artist, who holds the unique distinction of being the first and only rapper to receive a Pulitzer Prize, is set to debut his collaboration with Chanel in an upcoming eyewear campaign. Excitingly, this fashion-forward partnership will be unveiled later this week. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the table!

2023 marked the beginning of Lamar’s association with House of Chanel at the Met Gala honoring Karl Lagerfeld. There, he donned a bespoke leather bomber jacket crafted by Virginie Viard, who was then in charge of creative direction. Subsequently, Chanel invited Lamar and Free to design the setting for their January 2024 haute couture show. This included an illuminated Chanel emblem and a short film titled “The Button“. Although Chanel usually focuses on women’s ready-to-wear, they have enlisted several male ambassadors such as Korean singer G-Dragon, Timothée Chalamet, and others.

Kendrick’s first eyewear campaign is rumored to have been captured by Karim Sadli. In relation to Chanel, Kendrick expressed, “Chanel embodies an enduring legacy that I wholeheartedly support. Since they don’t create clothing for men, I knew the collaboration would be centered around glasses.” Chanel’s Fashion President, Bruno Pavlovsky, stated, “We firmly believe in the power of eyewear and its potential. Beyond being a mere fashion accessory, eyewear is an integral part of the Chanel appeal and regularly graces our runway. Its versatile style, intertwining with our signature codes, adds a final touch to the silhouette. Through the ‘Chanel & moi’ program, we’ve developed various services in this category, aiming to provide an ideal fit and exceptional experience for our customers.

Last year, the artist who’s garnered multiple Grammy awards made an impact with his powerful song “Not Like Us.” Hailing from Compton, this Grammy winner (22 times over) and Pulitzer Prize recipient for his 2017 album DAMN, gained much of his success following the release of his breakout album “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” in 2012. At the age of 37, he’s also co-founder of a creative studio called PGlang, which he runs along with Dave Free and has earned six Cannes Lions awards.
