Actor Suriya is preparing for his upcoming major production titled Retro, helmed by director Karthik Subbaraj. This movie is planned to hit theaters on May 1st and has already generated a lot of excitement among fans. Lately, the producers held a pre-release function that concluded with the unveiling of the film’s official trailer.
At that gathering, I proudly stepped into the spotlight, eager to express my ideas and feelings to both my dedicated fans and my cherished team. And let me tell you, I didn’t forget to acknowledge my one true love, Jyotika – affectionately known as ‘Kannadi Poo’, whose radiant presence is always a beacon in my life.
In his own words, “The movie will have multiple layers – love, laughter, and war… I’m here because of you all… I owe my presence to your love… And I couldn’t have had such a joyful journey without ‘Kannadi Poo’ Jo.
For those unfamiliar, ‘Kannadi Poo’ is a term of affection and catchy phrase found in one of Suriya’s songs from the movie ‘Retro’, where Pooja Hegde also appears.
Regarding the movie’s preview, the 2 minute and 42 second snippet from “Retro” presents Suriya in an exceptional character portrayal as a gangster consistently drawn towards violent confrontations and brawls.

In the film “Retro”, Pooja Hegde takes on the role of Suriya’s fictional spouse. The movie directed by Karthik Subbaraj, explores a romantic tale, in which the main character confronts his past to rekindle a relationship with his one true love, despite overwhelming obstacles.
In addition to the main characters, Retro features actors such as Jayaram, Karunakaran, Prakash Raj, Joju George, Swasika, Singampuli, Nassar, and several others.
In terms of direction and screenplay, the movie is the work of Karthik Subbaraj. It’s a collaboration between Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment for production. The music for this film titled “Retro” is created by Santhosh Narayanan.
Apart from this project, Suriya also has a film titled Suriya 45 lined up, directed by RJ Balaji.
