Earlier this month, Osment, who was apprehended at a ski resort on charges of cocaine possession and disorderly behavior, allegedly uttered a derogatory term against Jews while being escorted into custody by the police.

As per footage from police body cameras, obtained by People, it appears that Osment was put into the back of a patrol car. He could be heard stating that he was being assaulted. When the officers inquired about his identity, Osment responded briefly, saying “I’m an American.

In the latter part of the video, you can hear Osment shouting from within the vehicle that he’s being forcibly taken. “I’m being kidnapped by a motherfer Nazi,” Osment exclaimed, furthermore using a derogatory term against the arresting officer with an antisemitic connotation.

In an interview with People, Osment admitted to the occurrence and expressed regret over the situation. He stated that if he had realized his actions earlier, he would have addressed them more promptly, and aspires to make amends for his error.

Osment expressed deep regret for his actions, stating that if he had been aware he was speaking in such an offensive manner during a moment of unconsciousness brought on by the Altadena, California fires in January, he would have addressed it sooner. He further explained that the recent string of losses and displacement has left him feeling emotionally vulnerable and fragile.

I understand why you might be upset, but that doesn’t make the offensive word I used any less unacceptable. From deep within me, I sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt by this. My words were inappropriate and insensitive, and I regret letting down the Jewish community. I don’t expect anyone to forgive me, but I vow to make amends for my grave mistake.
