Award-winning actor Tim Allen, known for his role as Woody in the Toy Story series, has shared some fresh updates about the upcoming fifth installment of the beloved Pixar franchise. Since 1995’s Toy Story movie, Allen has voiced the cherished cowboy sheriff Woody, a favorite toy of Andy’s.
Andrew Stanton (known for Finding Nemo and Wall-E) is directing and writing the script for Toy Story 5. In this upcoming film, Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear will lend their voices once more. The duo were last seen together in Toy Story 4, which was released in 2019, where Woody chose to stay with Bo Peep instead of going back home to Bonnie.
What was Tim Allen’s Toy Story 5 update?
During a recent interview, Allen gave some insights into Toy Story 5’s plot, revealing that Woody and Buzz will definitely be meeting up again in the new installment. Furthermore, he also dropped hints about Jessie playing a significant part in the upcoming film, a role he has previously suggested.
As a dedicated fan, let me share some insights: Jessie plays a significant role in this new movie. You’ll see a reconnection between Woody and me, Tom Hanks’ character. There’s also an astonishing opening scene featuring Buzz Lightyear that I can confirm. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal much more about the storyline.
Currently, the studio hasn’t disclosed the formal plot summary or the cast list as of now, but Allen had earlier assured fans that they can anticipate an “exceptionally engaging” narrative for the follow-up.

If the script wasn’t genius, they wouldn’t have even contacted me or Tom [Hanks]. It’s a masterpiece, let me tell you. Getting hold of it was tough, but once I started playing as Buzz, two hours in, man, it was worth it! Honestly, I feel so fortunate to be Buzz Lightyear, it’s a dream come true. We’re about a year away from release, and we’ve reached the third act already. We’ll finish that, tidy it up, then do it again, maybe five more times. This game is amazing, folks! It’s really good!
