Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Indiana Jones video game franchise has “life”

In a recent interview with Variety, Xbox head Phil Spencer was asked about possible expansions for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and whether it could become its own franchise. Although Spencer’s response was somewhat ambiguous, he expressed satisfaction with how Machine Games’ latest game turned out and hinted that there may be future possibilities for the series.

Spencer mentions, “We’re truly delighted with ‘Indy’, the team, and the response we’ve received.” He further adds, “We believe there’s potential for this franchise to continue, and I won’t say any more on the subject for now.

Moving ahead, I’d like our teams to have the freedom to create their own games and even their own series,” Spencer says. “There’s a wealth of untold tales waiting for us, and I want to ensure we can explore these possibilities.

In December 2024, when Indiana Jones and the Great Circle premiered, it was generally well-received. Based on 77 critic reviews compiled by aggregator site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 86.

Despite its release in December, it secured nominations for various awards such as Game of the Year and Outstanding Technical Achievement at the D.I.C.E. Awards. Additionally, it garnered multiple wins, including Adventure Game of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Story at the same event.
