The film, now known as Star Wars: Starfighter, is billed as a self-contained story occurring five years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. As described by the studio, it presents an entirely fresh adventure filled with new characters and a time period not previously depicted on screen.

In his remarks at the Tokyo Star Wars Celebration panel, Gosling expressed that the script is exceptionally good, featuring an engaging storyline and unique characters. He emphasized its abundant heart and adventure, adding that there could not be a more fitting director for this narrative than Shawn.
The upcoming movie is set to be helmed by Levy, with the script penned by Jonathan Tropper. Before its formal unveiling, it was disclosed that the award-winning actor Mikey Madison received a part offer. Nevertheless, Anora’s lead actress declined the film, allegedly because she and the production team couldn’t come to terms on compensation.
