Nintendo Switch 2 US price won’t increase after tariffs, but accessories will cost more

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some good news and some not-so-great news about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The manufacturer has confirmed that despite pushing back pre-orders due to tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration, the price of the console itself won’t be increased. However, it looks like we gamers in the US might have to shell out a bit more for accessories designed for the new device.

Next week, starting from April 24, 2025, I’ll be able to officially reserve my spot in line to grab the Nintendo Switch 2! At the same time, they’re unveiling some freshly-priced add-ons designed specifically for this new console. Can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Nintendo Switch 2 US pricing confirmed

Nintendo officially revealed that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will start on April 24, 2025, priced as previously announced. The standard model will hit the shelves at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $449.99, while the Mario Kart World bundle can be pre-ordered for $499.99.

According to Nintendo’s announcement, prices for accessories related to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may change from what was initially announced on April 2nd, due to fluctuations in market conditions. Furthermore, it’s important to note that adjustments to the price of any other Nintendo product could occur in the future if there are changes in market conditions.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed an incremental increase in the cost of accessories for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The Pro controller now costs $84.99 instead of my previous $79.99 investment. Moreover, the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set has seen a $10 hike, moving from $109.99 to $119.99.

Nintendo has made it clear that the costs of game software, whether physical or digital, will stay unchanged at their initial release in the U.S., unlike other regions where digital versions might be priced lower than physical ones during the console’s launch phase.
