Rumors are spreading regarding the death of renowned Filipino actress Nora Aunor, causing many to question their authenticity and seek details about what transpired. Nora Aunor, originally known as Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, was a highly respected and accomplished figure in the Philippine film industry, with a career that dates back to the 1960s.

Nora Aunor passes away at 71, claims report
On April 16, 2025, actress Nora Aunor passed away at the age of 71. She leaves behind her children Lotlet, Ian, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth de León. The deceased’s children have confirmed the news of her demise.
Ian expressed his love for his mother on Facebook, saying “We adore you, Mom,” followed by a heartfelt message in Filipino: “God understands how deeply we cherish you… May you rest peacefully, Mom… You will forever remain within our hearts and minds.” Meanwhile, Matet, Aunor’s daughter and fellow actress, posted photos of her mother on Instagram with the caption: “I love you so much, mommy.
Currently, the specific reason behind Aunor’s demise is yet to be disclosed publicly. Nevertheless, it was shared in February 2023 that she had a brief experience of ‘death’, lasting around three minutes, due to insufficient oxygen supply.
After the incident, the actress asked to be transported to a hospital. “I’m not sure what transpired,” she explained during an interview with Boy Abunda. She further shared, “No one assisted me, and I didn’t receive oxygen immediately. I went to sleep [and] I don’t know what occurred. When I regained consciousness, I found myself in the ICU.” In a previous incident in 1982, the late movie star experienced another close call with death following a car accident.
Nora Aunor embarked on her professional journey as a vocalist following her victory in a talent competition. Among her most impactful performances are Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (Three Years Without God), Himala, Bulaklak sa City Jail (Flowers of the City Jail), and Bona. Throughout her illustrious career, she amassed numerous accolades, including multiple Best Actress titles at the FAMAS Awards.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts has declared that a state memorial service will take place for Aunor. Additionally, she will have a state funeral and be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes’ Cemetery) on April 22, 2025.
