Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón To Play ‘God and the Devil’ in New Movie

Karla Sofía Gascón has found her next movie project.

In 2024, Emilia Pérez, portrayed by Gascón, starred in the title role. Her remarkable performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. However, after receiving this recognition, she sparked controversy when a series of her old tweets were brought to light. Before this incident, she had already won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, received the European Film Award for Best Actress, and been nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards, among other honors.

According to recent reports, it’s been confirmed that Gascón will be featured in an upcoming psychological thriller film called “The Life Lift”. This project is being helmed by director Stefania Rossella Grassi.

What do we know about Karla Sofía Gascón’s character in The Life Lift?

In the upcoming movie, Gascón is set to portray a psychiatrist who encompasses elements of both divine and malevolent beings. For now, further specifics about his character are kept confidential.

The film will feature Vincent Gallo portraying Gabriel, a troubled individual residing in a compact New York flat, who is harassed by ominous notes found in the building’s elevator. These messages compel him to carry out heinous acts of violence against three other tenants, who intend to eliminate their close relatives in retaliation.

Grassi collaborated with Tommaso Scutari on writing the screenplay. Additionally, she’s working together with Carmela Arena to produce this film that has been described as “disturbing, fiery, and mesmerizing.

2025 is anticipated to mark the start of filming for The Life Lift, which will carry on until February 2026. Its estimated budget hovers around the $3 million mark.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll soon be gracing the screen in two exciting projects! Firstly, I’m starring in a Spanish-language film titled “Las Malas,” directed by the talented Armando Bó. Secondly, you can catch me in an Italian comedy called “Men and Other Inconveniences.” This one was filmed before Emilia Pérez and is under the direction of Giorgio Serafini. Can’t wait for both these releases!

A release date for The Life Lift has not yet been announced.
