Amazon’s Prime Video unveiled the initial sneak peek, or teaser trailer, of the new series titled “Ballard.” This upcoming spin-off of Bosch features Maggie Q portraying the character Detective Renée Ballard. The show is set to debut on their streaming platform sometime this coming summer.

What happens in the Ballard teaser trailer?
The video previews the upcoming phase in the Bosch universe, where the main character played by Q faces difficulties while heading the LAPD’s fresh cold-case team. Additionally, it hints at the return of Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch, a key figure in the franchise. This is actually the first significant television production for Q to headline after almost ten years since the cancellation of the crime drama Stalker.
The series is adapted from Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels, starring John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Victoria Moroles, Courtney Taylor, Hector Hugo, Noah Bean, Michael Cassidy, and others. Executive produced by Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hofmann, Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, Jasmine Russ, Jamie Boscardin Martin, Trey Batchelor, and Theresa Snider, it comes to us from Amazon MGM Studios.
The plot revolves around Detective Renee Ballard (Q), who is assigned to manage a newly established cold-case squad at the LAPD. This underfunded team consists of volunteers and has the largest number of cases in the city. In her pursuit, Ballard shows compassion and perseverance towards these time-frozen cases. As she delves deeper, she discovers a larger conspiracy. To help navigate the risks that endanger not only her squad but also her life, she seeks assistance from her retired partner, Harry Bosch (Welliver).
