Actor Vincent D’Onofrio recently expressed his views on a potential confrontation between Kingpin and Punisher in the upcoming second season of “Daredevil: Born Again”. This Marvel Studios series concluded its first season on Tuesday, April 15, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the events to unfold in the next installment. Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently underway in New York City.
Vincent D’Onofrio teases Kingpin’s meeting with Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Vincent D’Onofrio recently spoke with Variety about the possibility of a confrontation between his character, Kingpin (Wilson Fisk), and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
In the final episode of Season 1, Bernthal’s Punisher was apprehended by Kingpin and imprisoned when he declined to collaborate. Yet, the scene following the credits hints at his future appearance, as he somehow manages to break free. This scenario could potentially lead to the character’s reemergence in The Born Again Season 2.
D’Onofrio stated that the two characters have met before in the original Netflix series and will likely meet again at some point in the future, though he isn’t sure when. He hinted that Kingpin might be aware that The Punisher is no longer around, but so far this knowledge only plays a small role in the second season.

In anticipation of a gathering between his Kingpin and The Punisher, portrayed by Bernthal, D’Onofrio appeared hesitant regarding his role in this upcoming presentation.
The actor found the forthcoming Punisher project intriguing and stated, “It’s crucial to discover what unique approach they’re taking with the Punisher. I’m unsure if it’s a What If…? film or connected to our series, but either way, it promises to be captivating.
Moreover, D’Onofrio commended The Punisher role and acknowledged that Bernthal delivers an impressive performance.
In a statement made in February 2025, the Head of Television and Streaming for Marvel declared the unique presentation of The Punisher starring Bernthal.
