Inside Hypeform & House of Switzerland Milano’s Design Week Opening Party

On the special occasion of Milan Design Week last Monday, our design division at TopMob, known as Hypeform, jointly hosted the inaugural event for the Swiss House in Milan.

The eagerly awaited exhibition was held in Milan’s Brera district for an entire week, occupying Casa degli Artisti as its temporary home. In celebration of its debut, event coordinators Pro Helvetia partnered with Hypeform to throw a lively bash throughout the venue. This event offered a variety of treats such as Swiss cheese and other delectable foods, refreshments, and live DJ performances.

2021 saw the third occurrence of the event, orchestrated by Marie Mayoly and Alexandre Edelmann. At its inauguration, attendees were encouraged to explore the exhibition, established three years prior with the intention of highlighting Switzerland’s design prowess via schools, budding designers, and established brands.

This year’s event features the curatorial theme, “Collaboration”, a characteristic often associated with Swiss design, according to Mayoly and Edelmann. In a pre-show interview, Mayoly emphasized that collaboration is deeply ingrained in the Swiss design ethos.

In smaller nations like ours, collaboration has been a necessity, as Edelmann points out. This is because in order for us to grow or broaden our horizons, we’ve had to look beyond our borders. As a result, we’ve cultivated a culture that values working cooperatively with others.

As night fell, the festivities extended into the outdoor spaces. The gathering included journalists, curators, heads of institutions, and crucially, numerous designers showcased in the exhibit. Mayoly emphasized, “The rising stars are the core essence of this endeavor. We aimed to highlight the upcoming Swiss design scene.
