Actually, Melvin isn’t gone from the Today show for good. Instead, he’s taking a prolonged break and should be returning to our screens shortly.

On the April 10th show, Guthrie spoke about Melvin’s upcoming time off. She disclosed that Craig would take a break for Easter. Accompanying him would be his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, whom he married on October 15, 2011, and their children, Delano and Sybil. It is yet to be determined when the popular host will return.

In March 2025, there were rumors swirling online once more about him leaving, since he didn’t appear on the show for a brief spell. However, it turned out that he wasn’t hosting due to a trip to the location of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games for an assignment.

Guthrie announced during a recent broadcast that Tirico will temporarily replace Craig on the Today show next week. She made this announcement by saying, “By the way, we’ve got some exciting news! After Mike finishes his golfing, he will be joining us here in Studio 1A for the entire upcoming week. Craig is going on Easter break with his children. In his absence, Tirico will take over and co-host!

Regarding taking Melvin’s place, Tirico expressed, “However, Melvin demonstrated his ability to host the Olympics during my frequent travel periods. So, if we can attempt a fair swap, I’m excited to join you all next week.
