Beetlejuice 3 and A Minecraft Movie 2 will be happening “imminently.”
In September of last year, Warner Bros. debuted a follow-up to the 1988 film Beetlejuice, titled simply “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” This movie was directed by Tim Burton and featured Michael Keaton reprising his iconic role as the main character, with Winona Ryder returning as Lydia Deetz. The sequel was a box office success, earning an impressive $451.9 million worldwide.
Just a moment ago, the studio unveiled “A Minecraft Film,” a production helmed by Jared Hess and based on the renowned video game from Mojang Studios. To date, this film has garnered an impressive $351 million at the worldwide box office, surpassing Captain America: Brave New World to claim the title of highest-grossing movie of 2025 thus far.
What are the Beetlejuice 3 and A Minecraft Movie 2 updates?
When asked about the current status, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, the producers, were queried if projects such as a second Minecraft film and a third installment of Beetlejuice are being actively worked on at present.
“Imminently, “De Luca answered. “The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.”
Abdy mentioned, “On top of things we’re looking forward to, Andy Serkis working on the Gollum movie and Drew Goddard writing a new Matrix. We’re thrilled about Amblin collaborating with Chris Columbus for fresh installments in the Gremlins and Goonies series. We had an amazing meeting with Philippa Boyens regarding Gollum, and I believe we’ll receive the script by May. The Cat in the Hat and the second Dr. Seuss adaptation, co-directed by Jon M. Chu, are also on the way… there’s some fantastic work ahead.
As of now, there’s no word yet on when Beetlejuice 3 or a second Minecraft movie will be released. Right now, you can catch the Minecraft Movie in U.S. cinemas, and if you’re a fan of Beetlejuice, you can stream it on Max. Interestingly, the original Beetlejuice is currently available for streaming on AMC.
