MrBeast Opens Hospital To Treat Child Slavery Victims And Some People Are Mad About It

YouTube personality Jimmy Donaldson (also known as MrBeast) has established a medical center in Ghana to assist in the treatment of children who were formerly enslaved. The facility, financed through his content centered around philanthropy, is designed to offer extended care for children who have endured unthinkable hardships. Although the project garnered positive feedback from many, it also sparked criticism online. Some individuals argued that he should concentrate on aiding Americans rather than funding initiatives abroad.

What happened to helping your own kind? I haven’t seen him do anything for poor White kids.

You Can Critique MrBeast, Just Not For This

It’s perfectly reasonable to voice criticisms about some actions taken by MrBeast. For instance, his reenactment of Squid Game, a series portraying economic hardship, may seem insensitive given the current global issues such as inflation and increasing homelessness. Additionally, it could be argued that his wealthy-themed content sometimes appears detached or even cruel – like giving large amounts of money to people for humiliating tasks, a trend often seen among influencers, which can evoke comparisons to the Jigsaw killer’s games.

It might seem odd to question the act of constructing a hospital for rescued child slaves, given that it’s a noble cause, especially considering MrBeast’s extensive contributions to American society compared to some politicians.

Helping Beyond Borders Isn’t Wrong

It’s perfectly fine to lend a hand to individuals beyond your own nation. On the contrary, limiting assistance to just those considered “one of our own” (which can be unclear) is a harmful and discriminatory mentality. Human suffering doesn’t respect borders, and neither should compassion. Those in distress deserve aid, regardless of their nationality. MrBeast provided aid in Ghana because that was where it was required. Charity should focus on addressing need, rather than fulfilling nationalistic desires.

MrBeast Claps Back: “I’ve Been Helping Americans For Years”

In response to the backlash, MrBeast made it clear he hasn’t neglected his own country.

In the United States, we regularly conduct food drives and provide millions of meals free of charge to citizens annually. If I were to detail all our projects here, it would read like a book. However, whenever I assist people in Africa, the common response is that I don’t help my own country, despite my efforts.

He mentioned that each time he provides aid in Africa, the same old criticism arises, making it seem as if his good deeds abroad diminish all the assistance he’s given in the U.S. However, from distributing food nationwide, to his North Carolina pantry, school supply donations, and even helping with rent and medical expenses, MrBeast has been assisting Americans for years, well before establishing this hospital in Ghana.

Opinion: Direct Your Anger Where It Matters

Given the current state of affairs in the U.S., it might be more productive to channel your frustration towards those in positions of power, rather than MrBeast. These are the individuals who have the responsibility and means (trillion-dollar budgets and legislative authority) to address these issues. Perhaps you could question them as to why so many Americans continue to struggle with accessing affordable healthcare.

Incidentally, if MrBeast were to consider establishing a hospital in the U.S., it would be extremely challenging, not because it’s forbidden, but due to the complex system filled with numerous hurdles and regulations that make it practically impossible. This structure is deliberately designed to prevent individuals like him from effortlessly stepping in and performing tasks that should ideally be handled by the government.
