DBD Devs Prep Nerf for Killer Making People Quit

Players of Dead by Daylight can anticipate several exciting developments in the upcoming weeks. Currently, players have the chance to earn more than one million Bloodpoints as a gesture of apology from Behaviour Interactive, along with April 2025 codes. In the near future, a Public Test Build (PTB) featuring a brand-new survivor is expected to be released. This new survivor is particularly intriguing given that Behaviour recently introduced a new killer in Ken Kaneki to Dead by Daylight. However, it’s worth noting that Ken Kaneki has sparked controversy within the community, and Behaviour has indicated that they have adjustments (tweaks) planned for the killer which are causing some players to stop playing Dead by Daylight.

Dead By Daylight devs have “tweaks” ready for killer

Within the Dead By Daylight community, there’s been a significant amount of controversy ever since the introduction of Ken Kaneki. Many gamers argue that the Tokyo Ghoul killer is excessively powerful, leading to multiple pleas online for him to be balanced out or weakened (nerfed).

Apparently, there’s a discussion going on in Reddit suggesting that, following numerous years, playing against Kaneki in DBD has led some players to consider quitting. Luckily, BeHaviour acknowledges the dissatisfaction among its players and improvements are in the works.

According to a post by Mandy on the BeHaviour Interactive forums, which was later shared on Reddit, the developer is considering modifications for the character known as The Ghoul. Mandy mentioned that changes might not occur in Houseparty 1 (HF1) because they prefer to allow some time for players to adjust to the game before implementing major updates. However, she added that their designers have already planned some adjustments that can be made in the next hotfix to better align The Ghoul with their expectations.

In simple terms, The specifics about these adjustments are unknown, but they’re likely going to be reductions (nerfs). Although we need to see these adjustments being implemented, BeHaviour has announced some modifications for update 8.6.1 that we can look forward to.

  • The camera no longer zooms on the Survivor’s torso at the end of The Ghoul’s Mori animation.
  • Using The Ghoul’s Special Ability no longer disables the FOV Slider’s functionalities for the remainder of the Trial.
  • The reticle of the Kagune Leap no longer displays a collision where Survivors are downed for The Ghoul.
  • The Aura is no longer visible on part of the tentacles when The Ghoul performs the second Kagune Leap while having their aura revealed.

It’s expected that the adjustments for the upcoming patch will substantially enhance Ken Kaneki’s balance in the game. While he’s a fantastic character addition due to his recognition from a popular IP, at the moment, he poses a real threat to survivors and needs some refining.
