Jenna Ortega Talks Wednesday Script Comments: ‘You Live and You Learn’ Ahead of Season 2

Jenna Ortega has shared insights on her thoughts regarding the scripts from the first season of “Wednesday”, along with revealing her strategies for tackling the upcoming second season.

What did Jenna Ortega say about Wednesday?

In a recent interview with The Cut, Ortega touched upon her approach towards the scripts for the first season of the Netflix series. Back in 2023, Ortega revealed that she occasionally adjusted the scripts as they seemed illogical for her character.

The remarks spread rapidly, causing a stir and sparking debate, an experience Ortega has taken as a lesson.

Ortega admitted that she didn’t choose her words wisely, instead of saying “improvised,” but she learned from the experience. Despite the recent uproar, Ortega mentioned that she has had no problems with director Tim Burton or creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, as she spends a lot of time with them and they trust her to understand Wednesday’s thoughts and actions.

Ortega is still hands-on with Wednesday Season 2

In another part of the conversation, Ortega shared that she continues to collaborate daily with Burton during filming. Additionally, she mentioned that she’s still providing script and makeup suggestions, as well as participating in auditions for the younger cast members.

Ortega shared about his experiences with the writers: “We’d discuss changes, erase certain parts, and they’d add fresh content,” he explained, then delved into the arrival of the younger cast members on the show. “The girls joining were between 8 and 16, I can only imagine how daunting that could be for them. It’s a sensitive age. I would attempt to keep as low-profile as possible because I sometimes come across as having a [permanent serious expression],” he added.

Wednesday Season 2 is set to release sometime this year on Netflix.
