He feels that confronting and resolving issues with Lucky is the only way to protect his wife’s life from being destroyed.

Later on, I make it plain that I’m planning to off Lucky tonight. Fueled by alcohol, I go looking for him. In an unexpected twist of fate, I mistake a bartender named Sheryl, who happened to be wearing Lucky’s hat, for Lucky himself. Without taking the time to verify, I do the unimaginable—I accidentally shoot Sheryl.

Straight away, Sheryl perishes. Hub is culpable for his actions yet fails to take the appropriate steps. Instead of informing the authorities about the incident, he conceals the body.
