CinemaCon’s Downton Abbey 3 trailer teases the trilogy’s grand finale

At CinemaCon University, they showed an early peek at the main trailer for Downton Abbey 3, but only for those lucky enough to attend this famous pop-culture gathering.

According to ScreenRant’s Mansoor Mithaiwala, the scene starts with the Crawleys making their way to a racecourse. The sound of Jim Carter as Mr. Carson echoes, saying “Welcome to 1930,” signifying that two years have passed since the events of the second movie.

In addition, Michelle Dockery’s character, Lady Mary, and Laura Carmichael’s character, Edith, appear in multiple scenes before the focus changes to Downton Abbey itself. Gradually, each principal character enters the historical structure, with Lady Mary attracting attention due to her striking red outfit.

The Downton Abbey 3 trailer ends with Hugh Bonneville’s character, Robert Crawley, kissing his hand and setting it on the estate – a scene suggesting a potentially emotional farewell for the Crawley family, as hinted by his gesture. Further plot details about the movie are being kept secret at this time.

Under the direction of Simon Curtis, the latest installment of the Downton Abbey series will feature a number of original cast members returning to their roles. Actresses Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Robert James-Collier, and Jim Carter are among those set to appear. Currently, Downton Abbey 3 is slated for release in movie theaters on September 12, 2025.
