Regardless of the unclear conclusion in John Wick: Chapter 4, it’s confirmed that our protagonist, John Wick, will be back on the big screen again, as Lionsgate has made an official announcement about John Wick: Chapter 5 being in development.
What is the latest John Wick 5 update?
At this week’s CinemaCon, Lionsgate announced that they are indeed developing a fifth John Wick film, and here’s the exciting part: Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, who have been key figures in the franchise, will be back for the upcoming sequel.
Despite the company suggesting a movie was in progress last year, this announcement confirms the main characters from the series are returning. It remains to be seen how the film will address the apparent demise of John Wick (Keanu Reeves) in the fourth installment, where he seemed to have perished following a duel with Caine (Donnie Yen).
Adam Fogelson, Chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed during CinemaCon (THR) that Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica wouldn’t return unless they had something exceptionally innovative and engaging to share about these characters and this universe. He’s eager for the public to join us on the next leg of the journey.

In June 2025, a new movie titled “Ballerina” is scheduled to debut. This film follows Ana de Armas as she portrays a ballerina who undergoes training to become an assassin. The cast also includes Anjelica Huston, the late Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.
