Citadel Season 2 Delayed, Future Spin-offs On Hold

It appears that the release of Season 2 of Citadel has allegedly been postponed, which means all plans for potential spin-offs stemming from the Amazon Prime Video project have temporarily halted.

What do we know about Citadel Season 2’s status?

As per a fresh update by THR, the Amazon MGM spy series initially slated for a fall 2025 launch has been postponed to some point in the spring of 2026. This shift also affects the release schedule for Citadel Season 2. Additionally, all planned spin-offs of Citadel have been temporarily halted until the second season makes its debut.

According to THR’s report, the suspension of “The Boys” season 2 is because Amazon MGM isn’t satisfied with the current state of the second season. The report doesn’t provide specific details, but an inside source from the company stated that there’s no scheduled release date for the series yet.

From my gaming perspective, it’s clear that the Citadel universe had bigger plans initially, aiming to expand globally with spin-offs like “Diana” set in Italy and “Honey Bunny” in India, both slated for release in 2024. But, unfortunately, any further projects in this franchise are on hold for now. Amazon seems to be pouring all their efforts into ensuring the second season of the original series really shines and makes a lasting impact.

In this production, Richard Madden takes on the role of Mason Kane, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas portrays Nadia Sinh. Lesley Manville is cast as Dahlia Archer, Stanley Tucci plays Bernard Orlick, Osy Ikhile appears as Carter Spence, Ashleigh Cummings acts as Abby Conroy, Roland Møller and Davik Silje share the screen as Anders and another character named Silje. Hendrix Conroy is played by Caoilinn Springall, and several others join the cast as well.

Additionally, it’s been reported that Matt Berry, Gabriel Leone, and Jack Reynor from ‘The Peripheral’, are also set to join the cast for Season 2.
