2XKO Alpha Lab 2 playtest announced for late April 2025

Riot Games has delivered on their previous word, revealing significant updates this week on their League of Legends spinoff tag fighting game, 2XKO. We were given a detailed look at Jinx’s new fighting style and moves, as well as the date for the next playtest. The Alpha Lab 2 playtest is scheduled around late April 2025, marking the first official opportunity for players to try out Jinx in action.

In a fresh developer diary video, Riot Games unveiled insights about the upcoming 2XKO Alpha Lab 2 playtest. Game lead Tom Cannon and team members detailed the enhancements made in 2XKO since its last appearance. The developers also disclosed the dates for this playtest – it’s scheduled from April 18 to April 20, 2025. Participants can join from the United States, Canada, and Brazil. The playable platforms include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

In this playtest, an essential aspect is introducing Jinx as a new fighter. This brings the total number of combatants in Alpha Lab 2 up to seven. Here they are:

1. Fighter 1
2. Fighter 2
3. Fighter 3
4. Fighter 4
5. Fighter 5
6. Fighter 6
7. Jinx (the newly added fighter)

  • Ahri
  • Braum
  • Darius
  • Ekko
  • Illaoi
  • Jinx
  • Yasuo

In addition to the 2XKO Alpha Lab 2 playtest, players will encounter the Sidekick and Juggarnaut Fuses. In the context of 2XKO, Fuses represent the strategic aspects that alter team dynamics within a match. The Sidekick Fuse equips your main character with a focus on combat, making it the center of attention. While you can’t join or exit the fight directly, your primary character receives health and defensive enhancements. Meanwhile, your secondary character can use various abilities to support the main character from the sidelines, such as unleashing a super shortly after your super has been used.

In Juggernaut’s gameplay, you’re strictly limited to controlling a single character. Unlike other characters who can swap or leverage multiple benefits from having two characters, you’ll enjoy increased health and defense, as well as the option to forcefully kick out your opponent and call in their assist tag, which is incredibly useful for sealing the deal against an opponent with low health and trying to evade the edge of the stage. Additionally, Juggernaut offers a distinctive Double Down move, allowing one character to execute two super moves consecutively.

Starting from April, enthusiasts of 2XKO should stay alert for invitations and promptly register to participate, as the distinctive features unfold. Don’t forget to monitor our 2XKO section for regular news about the game.
