In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Scouts serve as valuable allies who can assist you in locating targets, acquiring vital resources, identifying quest objectives, and overall simplifying your experience. To make the most of their assistance, I’ll walk you through how to effectively utilize them, as I must admit that they can initially seem a bit complex.
How to use Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In your gameplay, scouts serve the purpose of identifying your next destination. As the story unfolds, you’ll encounter enemies to locate, targets for assassination, or new areas for quests. However, the instructions given will often be somewhat general, pointing out a broader region on the map rather than providing exact coordinates.
After choosing a target or mission from the Objectives menu, you can deploy your scouts. Position your cursor over the desired location, then press the X button on your controller. Decide how many scouts you’d like to send out, remembering that each intel charge increases the search radius. It’s best not to excessively use scouts if you’re unsure about the location. Typically, a single intel charge should be enough to find each waypoint. If you’ve found the correct spot, a blue waypoint will appear, indicating where you need to head.
How to smuggle resources
In various locations across the map, you’ll find an assortment of valuable resources, usually stored in large quantities. These resources are too heavy for you to collect alone, so your scouts are tasked with gathering them. You can mark these locations by interacting with them, and at the end of each season, your scouts will bring back these resources, increasing your stockpile and providing you with more funds to improve your hideout.
For each stack, it’s typically advisable to have at least two scouts available. This way, you can ensure that you always have some energy reserves before setting out to investigate castles, enemy camps, or territories such as certain temples.
How to clear your wanted status
In specific hostile territories like camps or fortresses, if you’re noticed, your adversaries may sound an alarm horn. This will mark you as a Wanted individual in that district, making every enemy from that faction immediately pursue you. However, you can clear this status using your scouts, provided you have constructed and upgraded a Kakurega at your hideout. Once the Kakurega is level two or higher, you can access your map, navigate to the Wanted region, and press the designated button to remove the status. To prevent them from doing so, consider silencing the bells by throwing shurikens to knock them over.
If you find yourself in need of additional scouts, you have two options:
1. Navigate to any visible Kakurega location on your map and spend 200 Mon to receive an intel charge.
2. Help strangers you encounter during your journey, and you might be rewarded with intel as a bonus. Additionally, all your intel charges will be refreshed at the end of each season.
To boost your charge capacity, it’s essential to continually enhance the Kakurega structures in your hideout. Additionally, during your global expeditions, you might encounter potential allies who could then become part of your scouting team.
