Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Cast Adds The Perfect Couple Star, Gets First Plot Details

Jack Reynor has been cast in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

Presently, Lee Cronin is engaged in the production of a fresh installment of The Mummy for New Line Cinema. Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Cronin’s Doppelgängers production company are collaborating on this project. Filming is slated to start next week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynor is set to play a man who is both a husband and father. However, he finds himself in trouble when he encounters malevolently supernatural entities.

Reynor is recognized for portraying Thomas Winbury in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, and he has also taken on roles such as Christian Hughes in Ari Aster’s Midsommar. His collaborations with John Carney extend to movies like Sing Street from 2016 and Flora and Son in 2023. Additionally, his acting credits encompass Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), Free Fire (2016), On the Basis of Sex (2018), Cherry (2021), among others.

In the upcoming film by Carney, titled “Power Ballad,” he’ll make an appearance alongside Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. No official release date has been announced as of now.

What else do we know about Lee Cronin’s The Mummy?

At present, we don’t have specific details about the storyline beyond Reynor’s character in Lee Cronin’s upcoming film The Mummy. However, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter in December 2024, Cronin promised that his movie would be a unique take on the classic Mummy theme. He hinted at delving deep into ancient history to create something incredibly old and terrifying.

In a sequential order, “The Mummy” marks Cronin’s third cinematic project, following “The Hole in the Ground” released in 2019 and “Evil Dead Rise” slated for 2023. The production of this film is under the supervision of James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville. Meanwhile, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher are the executive producers.

The film company Universal Pictures started the trend of mummies in horror films with a project featuring Boris Karloff, which debuted in 1932. This was followed by several sequels, and later in 1999, Stephen Sommers’ Mummy series starring Brendan Fraser hit the screens. In 2017, Tom Cruise took on a Mummy role, hoping to initiate a new, interconnected monster universe. However, this idea didn’t materialize, and eventually, the project was abandoned.
