Coco 2 is happening.
Pixar Animation Studios is currently developing a follow-up film titled “Coco 2,” according to The Walt Disney Company. This new project will serve as a sequel to the 2017 movie “Coco,” which was helmed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina in their directorial roles.
In the sequel to Coco, it’s confirmed that Lee Unkrich will resume his role as director and Adolfo Molina will join him as co-director. Mark Nielsen, a veteran in Pixar productions with credits on Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2, will take on the producer position.
When is the Coco 2 release date window?
Excitedly, I’ve just learned from an update on their official account that my beloved Pixar is planning to release “Coco 2” in theaters sometime within 2029! Can’t wait to see more of Miguel and his family’s incredible journey through the Land of the Dead.

At the moment, specific details about the plot and the cast are being kept secret. During The Walt Disney Company’s gathering for shareholders, CEO Bob Iger shared that although the movie is still in its early phases, it promises to be filled with laughter, emotion, and excitement. He expressed eagerness to reveal more information soon.
Although his family has long prohibited music, young Miguel yearns to be a skilled musician, much like his hero Ernesto de la Cruz. Eager to demonstrate his abilities, Miguel winds up in the vibrant and lively Land of the Dead. Here, he encounters a witty and charming character named Héctor. Together, they embark on an extraordinary adventure to uncover the truth about Miguel’s family origins.
In this rephrased version, here’s how you might express the information:
Coco, the movie, features Anthony Gonzalez as Miguel, Gael García Bernal as Héctor, Benjamin Bratt as Ernesto de la Cruz, Alanna Ubach as Mama Imelda, Renée Victor as Abuelita, and Ana Ofelia Murguía as Mama Coco. The cast’s performances earned the film Academy Awards in the categories of Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Remember Me,” composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez). Ultimately, it generated an impressive $814.3 million at box offices worldwide.
Coco is currently available to stream on Disney+.
