ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Becoming Vera trailer for the new coming-of-age music drama about a Latin Jazz piano prodigy’s music journey. Following its world premiere at Cinequest, the movie will also have a screening at the Miami International Film Festival on April 5, 2025.
“In the vibrant city of Miami, an 18-year-old talented pianist named Vera has a passion for Latin Jazz. When she gets a freelance job at a music studio, Vera seizes the opportunity to play in front of Hector, the studio owner. Hector recognizes her undeniable talent but is an unscrupulous music producer who exploits her dreams for his own gain and steals the composition from her,” reads the official synopsis.
“Vera must confront her own insecurities and doubts about her worthiness in the competitive world of music. But through perseverance, resilience, and the support of her friends, Vera embarks one last time on a journey of self-discovery, finding her voice and carving out a future in the rich tapestry of Latin Jazz.”

What happens in the Becoming Vera trailer?
The video introduces newcomer Raquel Lebish as the titular teen pianist who wants to pursue her passion for Latin Jazz. It teases the challenges she will have to face through her music journey to achieving her dreams. Besides Lebish, the cast also features Gabriel Diehl as Hector, Nicolas Pozo as Jake, Mikaela Monet as Ellen Rivera, Brandon Williams as Daniel, Phillip Andre Botello as Ariel, and more.
Becoming Vera is written and directed by Sergio Vizuete, who is also set as the editor, with Arturo Vasquez as the movie’s cinematographer. This marks Vizuete’s feature-length directorial debut. It is executive produced by Mary Aloe and Vince Jolivette, with Yuchuan Cao and Jiarui Guo serving as producers.
