Freakier Friday Trailer: Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis Are Back for Disney Sequel

Disney has unveiled the trailer at last for the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2003 classic fantasy comedy, titled A New Freaky Friday. The film is set to hit cinemas on August 8, 2025.

In the movie, I find myself as Anna, who’s gained a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As we tread through the complex maze of blending two families, my character Tess and I uncover that perhaps love can strike twice in the same heart, just like lightning.

Who is in the Freakier Friday trailer?

The video offers a sneak peek at the principal actors, including Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, who are back after more than two decades in their iconic roles as Anna and Tess Coleman. Alongside them, we see familiar faces like Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei, Lucille Soong as Pei-Pei’s mother, and Stephen Tobolowsky as Mr. Bates.

On the helm of Freakier Friday, we find Nisha Ganatra (known for Late Night) at the director’s chair. The script is penned by Jordan Weiss, inspired by Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel with the same title. This time around, the story unfolds years after the initial events, and it will bring in fresh faces like Manny Jacinto (from The Good Place), Sophia Hammons (Up Here), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), and Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Fabelmans). The production team includes Curtis, Andrew Gunn, and Kristin Burr. Lohan, Nathan Kelly, and Ann Marie Sanderlin serve as executive producers for the project.
