Alicia Vikander will not be part of the forthcoming M. Night Shyamalan film “Remain,” as she has been replaced by another actor in a recent casting change.
Who is replacing Alicia Vikander in the new M. Night Shyamalan movie?
Initial rumors about Vikander’s exit from the project were spread by World of Reel, but they didn’t specify a reason for her departure. However, it seems that a swift replacement has been found, as Deadline suggests Phoebe Dynevor is currently in talks to join the film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
Emily Dynevor primarily gained recognition through her leading parts in productions such as The Color Room, Fair Play, and the initial two seasons of the popular Netflix series Bridgerton. In the near future, she is set to feature in the survival-themed thriller movie titled Beneath the Storm.
What else do we know about M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie?
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider newsletter, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to headline the next film by the renowned director in the movie industry. Interestingly, Deadline has recently disclosed some initial insights about this highly anticipated project.
Essentially, the upcoming project will be a unique blend of romantic suspense and supernatural elements, co-written by M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks – renowned for his novels like The Notebook, Dear John, The Last Song, among others, several of which have been adapted into films.
As Deadline’s report suggests, M. Night Shyamalan and Leigh Sparks are collaborating on a shared concept for a new project. Shyamalan is responsible for penning the screenplay, while Sparks will write the novel based on the same initial story. At this point, the specific plot details and casting decisions for the upcoming film have yet to be revealed, leaving fans eagerly waiting for more information.
In a recent development, Jake Gyllenhaal’s most recent film was the 2024 remake of Road House, an action movie originally released in 1989, produced by Amazon. Coming up next for him is Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming action-thriller titled In the Grey, where he will be joined on screen by Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, and others. Additionally, Jake Gyllenhaal has a role in an upcoming monster movie called The Bride! This film is directed by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and also features Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, among others.
Moving forward, Shyamalan’s upcoming film will be released after 2024’s “Trap,” which featured Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, and his daughter, Saleka Night Shyamalan, alongside providing the original music for the movie. Before that, he unveiled a film in 2023, titled “Knock at the Cabin,” an apocalyptic psychological horror, starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.
