Despite reaching the wild card round last season as NFC South champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have chosen to strengthen their team during the offseason. The Buccaneers have signed former key player Kindle Vildor from the Detroit Lions on a one-year free agent contract, aiming to enhance their options at cornerback.

Kindle Vildor signs one-year contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Kindle Vildor’s representatives Kevin Conner and Robert Brown, experienced cornerback Kindle Vildor has officially joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Moreover, sources indicate that Fox Sports’ Greg Auman believes that Vildor’s contract with Tampa Bay is classified under veteran salary benefit agreements. As a result, it’s expected that former Lions player Vildor will earn a base salary of approximately $1.17 million during the upcoming NFL season.

Before joining the Buccaneers, I had a stint with the Lions last season where I made 17 appearances on the field, with two of those as starting games. I managed to tally up 16 tackles and successfully defended three passes during that time, according to Lions Wire.

Although Vildor was generally known as a dependable cornerback throughout his playing career, he is most notably remembered for an unusual incident in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. During the course of the game, the ball unintentionally ricocheted off the helmet of the 2018 Sun Belt Player of the Year, allowing the opposing receiver Brandon Aiyuk to secure possession and make a 51-yard gain. While Vildor was not directly responsible for the mistake, his team suffered the consequences and eventually lost the game by a narrow margin, with the final score being 34-31.

Due to his recent move, Kindle Vildor will be playing for his fifth NFL team, which marks a significant milestone in his career. Starting with the Chicago Bears, he spent three seasons there before switching teams and joining the Tennessee Titans. Notably, Vildor also wore the jersey of the Philadelphia Eagles, though only for 25 days.
