How to switch weapons – Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, it is beneficial to frequently switch weapons, and the game offers an additional way to do so that simplifies hunt preparation. Moreover, you can swap weapons at any temporary campsite, ensuring that you rarely find yourself unprepared with the appropriate equipment in Wilds.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn the steps on switching weapons in Monster Hunter World, which also covers the process of transitioning from your main weapon to your backup one.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to switch weapons

As a dedicated player, I can tell you that there are multiple methods to switch my weapons, whether I’m at a base camp or a temporary pop-up camp. Stepping into my tent, I navigate through the menu to the equipment section and select “change equipment” to effortlessly swap out my main and secondary weapon with any previously crafted one. Similarly, engaging in conversation with Gemma at any base camp’s forge grants me the same option for weapon swapping.

Just like when you craft a new weapon using Gemma, you can decide whether to use it as your main or backup weapon. The previously used one is then moved to your equipment storage. Any weapons you craft but choose not to use are also placed in the equipment storage.

The “Equipment Switch” menu allows you to trade places between your secondary and primary weapons at base camp using any of the weapons you’ve previously crafted. Once you’re out in the field, you can switch between these two options while on your Seikret. To do this, press the ‘right’ button on your controller, or whatever key you’ve assigned to it, while riding your Seikret to bring out your alternative weapon.

You can carry out this action anywhere in the untamed wilderness – be it during an ongoing adventure, casual exploration, or even when a beast is hot on your heels pursuing you.

It would be wise to prepare your gear in advance for hunting, ensuring you have the appropriate main and backup weapons at hand, to avoid having to return to base camp later to swap them out.
