A Critical Role video game is in the works

Today marks the 10th anniversary for Critical Role, and the creative minds behind this globally acclaimed live-play series are looking forward to the next decade of their venture. In celebration, they’ve unveiled plans to grow their brand even further! Among these plans is a video game inspired by Critical Role that has officially entered development.

In a chat with BusinessInsider together with other Critical Role team members, CEO Travis Willingham revealed that they have been intensely engaged in developing a video game. Although they are not yet prepared to disclose specifics, Willingham did offer some preliminary insights about the upcoming Critical Role video game.

In the interview, he stated that they will directly influence the plot and determine its direction, altering not only established characters but also introducing fresh elements to the universe of Exandria.

Since Critical Role has already delved into animated shows and tabletop games set in the world of Exandria, a video game appears to be the natural progression next. The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023, which garnered widespread critical acclaim and financial success, is worth noting as it was inspired by Dungeons & Dragons – the very same universe that Critical Role has been exploring for a decade.

Keep an eye on Shacknews as they’ll be the first to announce details about the upcoming Critical Role game when Travis Willingham reveals more information, which he has hinted could be any day.
