The streaming service Paramount+ has confirmed that Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s oil rig drama, “Landman,” will be returning, starring Billy Bob Thornton. This decision was made following a successful debut for Season 1, with its premier episode drawing in over 35 million global viewers across all streaming platforms and CTV viewing. Furthermore, the premiere and finale episodes of the first season set new records as the most-watched international debuts and finales for any series on Paramount+’s platform.

Chris McCarthy, an executive at Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, praised Landman as a standout show of the year. He attributed its success to Taylor Sheridan’s exceptional talent for reflecting current societal trends, specifically through Neo-western themes that encompass rugged individualism, ambition, working-class struggles, and discussions on energy, climate change, and economic growth. McCarthy further stated that Landman has been instrumental in elevating Paramount+, making it the second most popular SVOD (Streaming Video On Demand) service in the U.S. for Original Hours Watched in Q4, alongside other successful series such as Tulsa King, The Agency, Lioness, and Dexter: Original Sin.
According to Boomtown podcast reports, the series Landman has been brought to life by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace as its creators and executive producers. The talented cast features Ali Larter, Demi Moore, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez.
